Teams can either belong to one class or Combined across more than one class.

One-class teams are normal in Eventing.

Combined Teams are more usual in Riding Club or NSEA Dressage. You have to use Combined Teams when the team members do different dressage tests.

Flags can be used for Combined Teams or one-class teams. It is used to denote a secondary placing within a bigger team competitions.

You would typically use Flag when a team could win two sets of rosettes e.g. the overall team prize and also the Novice Team special.

Team Competition is only used for Combined Teams. It splits the teams into two or more Team Competitions. Each team can be in only one Team Competition.

You would typically use Team Competition when a team can be in only one Team Competition e.g. Juniors or Seniors. It was set up for Riding Club Dressage and may be useful in other cases.
